Internship deadline is Nov. 17
ANNAPOLIS — College students interested in pursuing journalism have until Friday, Nov. 17 to submit an application for an annual internship program offered by the Maryland- Delaware- D. C. Press Association.
“MDDC’s Reese Cleghorn Internship Program supports local publications and developing journalists by providing college students paid, intensive, real-world experience in member publications’ newsrooms each summer,” a news release from the association states.
Through the Cleghorn Internship, students are trained in news reporting, copy-editing and photography. It includes an emphasis on “innovative and multimedia skills,” the release states. Students receive a weekly stipend of $300 during the duration of the eightweek internship.
The Cleghorn Internship is open to undergraduates attending any four-year college in Maryland, Delaware or Washington, D.C. Candidates should have a strong career interest in journalism and have completed coursework or have equivalent experience in the field.
“Over the past 15 years, 112 MDDC interns from 33 schools have served 34 member publications in 22 towns throughout the region,” the release states.
