League an­nounces can­di­date fo­rums

CHESTERTOWN — The League of Women Vot­ers will host fo­rums for can­di­dates run­ning in lo­cal elec­tions, in the Mary­land Leg­isla­tive Dis­trict 36 and U.S. House of Rep­re­sen­ta­tives Mary­land Dis­trict 1.

A fo­rum for can­di­dates in the race for Dis­trict 36 will be held Wed­nes­day, Oct. 3 at Ch­e­sa­peake Col­lege in the Cadby Theatre. The fo­rum for can­di­dates for del­e­gate to the House of Del­e­gates will be­gin at 7 p.m. The fo­rum for can­di­dates for Mary­land State Se­nate will be­gin at 8 p.m.

Then, at 7 p.m. Mon­day, Oct. 15, the league will host a fo­rum for can­di­dates for Kent County State’s At­tor­ney, at the Kent County Pub­lic Li­brary, 408 High St., Chestertown.

Can­di­dates for Kent County Com­mis­sioner will par­tic­i­pate in a fo­rum be­gin­ning at 7 p.m. Thurs­day, Oct. 18 at the Chestertown Vol­un­teer Fire Com­pany, 211 Maple Ave., Chestertown.

It will be fol­lowed by a “Meet and Greet,” for can­di­dates for clerk of the cir­cuit court, reg­is­ter of wills and sher­iff, all un­op­posed, and can­di­dates for judge of or­phans’ court.

At 2 p.m. Sun­day, Oct. 21, the league will host a fo­rum for can­di­dates for U.S. House of Rep­re­sen­ta­tives, Mary­land Dis­trict 1, at the Tal­bot County Free Li­brary, 100 W. Dover St., Eas­ton

Fi­nally, at 7 p.m. Mon­day, Oct 22, the league will host a fo­rum for can­di­dates for the Kent County Board of Ed­u­ca­tion, at the Kent County Pub­lic Li­brary, 408 High St. in Chestertown.

The League of Women Vot­ers is a non-par­ti­san or­ga­ni­za­tion, ded­i­cated to pro­mot­ing in­formed and ac­tive par­tic­i­pa­tion in govern­ment. The league does not sup­port or op­pose any can­di­date.

League of Women Vot­ers rules, in com­pli­ance with its non­profit sta­tus and cam­paign fi­nance law, do not al­low a fo­rum for only one can­di­date. If only one can­di­date for an of­fice ap­pears at the league fo­rum for that of­fice, the fo­rum will be can­celled.

No demon­stra­tions are al­lowed in the event venue. No cloth­ing or signs in­di­cat­ing sup­port for or against a can­di­date will be per­mit­ted. Fo­rums may not be recorded or filmed, un­less with writ­ten agree­ment from the league.
