Showing our Kent County pride

Kent County News - - OPINION -

To the editor: Last Friday was the Kent Goes Purple high school football game. I attended and marveled at how special that evening was for Kent.

Yes, the game was themed to bring awareness to the opioid epidemic and our commitment to finding solutions, but it achieved even more.

We were there in support of our athletes and yes we were there in the hundreds showing our support. We were not there as Democrats, Republicans or unaffiliated. We were there as Kent Countians — as neighbors — showing the opposing team our Kent County pride.

I am proud of our team and everyone who showed up to support them.

Let’s keep this atmosphere in mind as we proceed through the political season and beyond. We are foremost neighbors.

Kent County pride reigns.
