Al­though the large chop­per-style knife has been around for some time, it is just re­cently that we have be­gun to see a real surge in the cleaver style of chop­per. Due to se­vere for­ward weight of a cleaver, they are the per­fect so­lu­tion for any kind of chop­ping chore. Cleavers have been a solid per­former in kitchens and with butch­ers for a long time, due to their abil­ity to make short work of bone and thick slabs of meat, so it only makes sense that this style would per­form so well in the out­doors.
