Ef­fects of the deadly hur­ri­cane that rav­aged the U.S. is­land ter­ri­tory of Puerto Rico last week will likely be felt for years to come, ac­cord­ing to govern­ment of­fi­cials there who de­scribe the scene as “apoc­a­lyp­tic.” Hur­ri­cane Maria, a cat­e­gory 4 storm when it struck, laid waste to vir­tu­ally ev­ery part of the is­land, knock­ing out power for what is ex­pected to be up to six months for many of Puerto Rico’s 3.4 mil­lion res­i­dents.
