Richard Eugene Lippis, 66, formerly of Las Vegas, passed away peacefully October 31, 2017, at his home, in Denver, Colorado. Richard was born in Pueblo, Colorado, to Eugene B. Lippis and Jerilyn Henry. After serving in the U.S. Navy, Richard began a career in law enforcemen­t in Glendale, Colorado, and then in Newark, Ohio. Having studied mechanical engineerin­g at Phoenix State, Richard worked for VA hospitals in Kentucky, Arizona, and Oregon. He retired after over 20 years as Chief Operations Officer. Richard was a talented gunsmith, with certificat­es in gunsmithin­g from Trinidad State Junior College. He was the owner of Open Site Firearms. Richard also loved music and was a gifted guitarist and singer. Richard shared the last years of his life with his girlfriend, Celeste Hastings, in Denver. Richard’s father passed away in 2006 in Las Vegas. Richard is survived by his mother, Jerilyn Henry Saltzman of Virginia; his sons, Logan Lippis and Jordan Lippis of Roseburg, Oregon; his sisters, Deborah Lippis and Bobby Brown of Las Vegas, and Toni Ventrella of North Carolina; nieces, Jenna Ventrella, Vanessa Coy and Chelsea Lankowski; nephew, Payton Ventrella; as well as many cousins. Richard’s greatest joys in life were his sons, Logan and Jordan. Richard had many life-long friends and extended family members across the US. He will be dearly missed. Final arrangemen­ts were handled by Fairmount Mortuary in Denver, Colorado. Services will be private.
