Mark T. Hoepfner, 63, passed away peace­fully sur­rounded by his fam­ily, Sat­ur­day, Septem­ber 29, 2018. Born in Bre­mer­ton, Wash­ing­ton to Phyl­lis and John Hoepfner, Septem­ber 18, 1955, he was raised in Bre­mer­ton and then at­tended Seat­tle Univer­sity where he met his wife, Kristina Hol­man, whom he mar­ried in 1983. He re­ceived his Bach­e­lor of Science in Chem­istry (Seat­tle Univer­sity) and then his B.S. in Bio­chem­istry (Univer­sity of Wash­ing­ton). He at­tended Univer­sity of Wash­ing­ton Med­i­cal School. Af­ter com­ple­tion of his res­i­dency in gen­eral surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Min­nesota (in­clud­ing a fel­low­ship year in gas­troin­testi­nal surgery re­search), he and Kristina made their home in Las Ve­gas. A car­ing, lov­ing and bril­liant doc­tor, Mark was ranked among the top-rated sur­geons by var­i­ous pub­li­ca­tions/or­ga­ni­za­tions, and he was rec­og­nized by Sen­a­tor Harry Reid as one of Ve­gas Inc’s Top Doc­tors in 2014. Mark took great plea­sure in cook­ing, and his fam­ily and friends looked for­ward to his won­der­ful gourmet din­ners at home. He al­ways brought a smile to oth­ers with his sense of hu­mor, and, he will be missed by ev­ery­one whose lives he touched. Mark is sur­vived by his wife, Kristina; chil­dren, Matthew Hoepfner (Seat­tle) and Ali­cia Hoepfner (Napa, Cal­i­for­nia); his mother, Phyl­lis Hoepfner; broth­ers, Pa­trick (Vir­ginia) and Peter (Alaska); and nieces, Sarah and Ha­ley. Fu­neral Ser­vices will be at 10 a.m. Sat­ur­day, Oc­to­ber 13, 2018 at St. Vi­a­tor Catholic Church, 4150 S. East­ern Ave., Las Ve­gas, NV 89119. A re­cep­tion will be held af­ter the ser­vice at the home. In lieu of flow­ers, do­na­tions may be made to your char­ity of choice.
