I-15-to-215-beltway ramp closing next week for work

Interstate 15 to the 215 Beltway in North Las Vegas will close for overnight work next week, the Nevada Department of Transporta­tion said.

The ramp will shut down Sunday and Monday nights from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., NDOT spokesman Tony Illia said.

Crews will pave the road as part of a $33.8 million project that calls for widening I-15 between Craig Road and Speedway Boulevard in North Las Vegas. Franco while he was attempting to stop a convenienc­e store robbery.

Police said a woman entered a convenienc­e store on the 300 block of West Lake Mead Boulevard and stole several items before attempting to flee.

She got into a dark-colored Jeep Grand Cherokee with California license plates, then struck and killed the 54-year-old Franco as he tried to stop her from leaving.

Franco, a North Las Vegas resident, died at University Medical Center.
