Casino op­er­a­tors cre­ate fund for or­ga­ni­za­tions

The Ne­vada re­sort gam­ing in­dus­try has es­tab­lished its own fund, called the Ve­gasstrong­fund, for col­lect­ing money for “those im­pacted” by the Oct. 1 mass shoot­ing. The fund will “sup­port com­mu­nity or­ga­ni­za­tions and our brave first re­spon­ders,” the Ne­vada Re­sort As­so­ci­a­tion said Thurs­day in a state­ment.

The as­so­ci­a­tion has 59 mem­bers in South­ern Ne­vada, span­ning from the El­do­rado casino to Wynn Las Ve­gas, but as­so­ci­a­tion Pres­i­dent Vir­ginia Valen­tine said par­tic­i­pa­tion is vol­un­tary.

Ne­vada non-profit do­mes­tic cor­po­ra­tion last Fri­day, she said. The fund is hosted at Bank of Amer­ica and man­aged by the Ne­vada Re­sort As­so­ci­a­tion.
