ANINI BEACH

Fol­low­ing Rte. 56 from Ki­lauea town to­ward Hanalei This tran­quil 3-mile beach is pro­tected by Hawai‘i’s largest co­ral reef. Wind­surfers take ad­van­tage of the lake-like wa­ters and fam­i­lies en­joy swim­ming and snorke­l­ing.

DON­KEY BEACH

Hwy. 56 be­tween mile mark­ers 11 and 12 A short hike off a dirt road brings you to this se­cluded, white-sand, cres­cent-shaped beach, pop­u­lar among surfers and gays, in­clud­ing the oc­ca­sional nud­ist on the far end.

HANALEI BAY

Aku Rd. and Weke Rd. A huge, cres­cent-shaped bay marks one of Hawai‘i’s most scenic beaches, where moun­tains re­flect off the wa­ter’s mir­ror-like sur­face. The Hanalei Pier is lo­cated on the east side of the beach near where Hanalei River en­ters the ocean.
