In an exclusive interview, Jon Gosselin’s mother says his ex-wife needs help

It was a routine custody exchange that turned into a three-hour showdown. On Aug. 15, Jon and Kate Gosselin’s 13-year-old daughter Hannah refused to get out of her father’s car to go with Kate, screaming as her mother tried to take her out. Jon encouraged Hannah to resist. Two days later, the exes wound up back in court for a custody hearing, Life & Style has learned exclusively, and Jon lost. “The judge claimed Jon had manipulated Hannah so she wouldn’t want to see Kate, [then] ended Jon’s 5050 custody of her and separated Hannah from him for 30 days,” reveals an insider. “Also, now Jon will no longer see the other children except for a couple of hours on Sundays in a park.”

Jon’s mother is furious. In an exclusive interview with Life & Style, Hannah’s irate grandmother makes shocking charges against her son’s former wife and Jon & Kate Plus 8 co-star, claiming it’s Kate

who is manipulating their eight children, and that the kids are afraid of her. “Kate needs psychological help,” Jon’s mom charges, adding that she believes Kate is trying to turn the children against their father. “The kids say they are scared to say or do anything.”

Kate, 42, has admitted to spanking her kids, and Jon’s mom believes it goes way too far. “If these kids spill something, they freak out and panic and cry as if we will hurt them,” she says. Though Kate offered in the heat of the Aug. 15 fight to take Hannah to therapy and reassured her she could continue to see both parents, Hannah told her grandmother that Kate encouraged the other children to “shun” her after the incident. “Hannah said that Kate told them not to talk to her in order to teach her a lesson,” she tells Life & Style. “Hannah also said Kate took the children shopping for school supplies but wouldn’t buy her anything. She is punishing her.” Kate did not respond to a request for comment on these charges.

Kate is targeting Hannah, Jon’s mom believes, for showing a preference for Jon, 40. Kate, she claims, has been turning the children against both her and her son. “Hannah told me that Kate made her and her brothers and sisters all chant, ‘ We will not visit Jon,’” she says. “Not even, ‘ We will not visit Daddy.’ She makes them call him Jon. And Kate tells the kids she is afraid of me to alienate them from me, too.”

Jon’s oldest daughters, twins Mady and Cara, 16, have said they don’t want to see Jon, but he hasn’t given up on them or the 13-yearold sextuplets Aaden,

Alexis, Collin, Hannah, Joel and Leah. (Collin lives away from home in a facility to deal with what his mom calls his “special needs.”)

As angry as she is, Jon’s mom says she’s mostly just concerned for her grandchildren. “After everything that has happened, I demand a psych evaluation for Kate,” she says. “I demand justice for Jon and these kids.”

So Much Anger Though Jon’s mom believes Kate needs help, she says Kate has refused therapy for her issues. “Kate thinks there is nothing wrong with her, so she would never subject herself [to it],” she tells Life & Style.

Separated From His Children After Jon and Kate’s Aug. 15 showdown over daughter Hannah, some of his custody privileges were taken away. “It makes no sense that Jon has been denied visitation,” his mom (with him here) tells Life & Style.
