Three new ways to rock a structured updo.

Pony Twist: Edgy

“The tightly wound tail of Natasha’s low-hanging pony gave her a strong but still feminine look while the side part and sleekness of the style added modern edge,” says the model’s hairstylist, Sasha Nesterchuk. To get the look, she smoothed hair down and secured it into a low pony at the nape of the neck. Next, she separated the tail into two sections, twisted one section and wrapped it once around the base and pinned it in place. Then she twisted the other section, pulled it up and looped and twirled it around itself and pinned the ends to the base of the pony.

Back Twist: Chic

“We were aiming for a classic movie-star elegance with this combination of a chignon and French twist,”says the Miss Sloane star’s hairstylist, Renato Campora, of Jessica’s rigidly rolled updo. His how-to: Work a dime-sized amount of volumizing mousse (we like Pai-shau Royal Abundance Mousse, $12, pai-shau.com) through wet hair and blow- dry, then secure hair into a low pony with a clear elastic. Next, tease the tail, pull it up toward the sky while twisting , then fold it down, securing the ends into the pony’s base. Take the folded tail and roll it inward horizontally, tucking it in as you go. Secure with pins.

Topknot Twist: Sexy

“A sculpted knot like Joan’s adds major drama while the height pulls the eye up for a slimming face-lift effect,” says hairstylist Glenn Ellis, who has worked with Olivia Wilde and Sienna Miller. His how-to: Secure hair into a high pony at the top of the crown. Twist the tail up tightly to create a rope-like effect and tie it into a topknot; pin in place. Then stick two bobby pins vertically through the hair tie beneath the knot to prop it up so it stands tall. Seal with a hair spray, like Paul Mitchell Firm Style Freeze and Shine Super Spray ($11, ulta.com) for extra shine.

Tangle-free What’s the one product model NATASHA POLY can’t be without? “Conditioner — I can’t stand my hair when I can’t brush it!” Dye Hard JESSICA CHASTAIN loves to change up her ’ dos, but her signature color is here to stay. “I realized [my red hair] is who I am, and my differences [make me] special.”

Overachiever When it comes to hair care, JOAN SMALLS goes the extra mile! “I deep- condition my hair with a mask, but instead of leaving it in for five minutes, I leave it in the whole day.”
