Milk truck spills cargo on I-5 offramp

THORNTON — There were some phone calls and a lot of clean-up, but no reports of tears.

At approximately 12:47 p.m. Tuesday, the California Highway Patrol began receiving calls that a tankerstyle big rig was pulled over and spilling milk on the Interstate-5 offramp at Walnut Grove Road.

Officers responding to the scene found the truck was draining milk onto the roadway, and vehicles were having to go around the truck.

The tanker truck, which was carrying approximately 5,800 gallons of milk, had a broken valve, the CHP said.

The California Department of Transportation headed to the scene with an evacuation machine to clean up the spilt milk, and the mess was sopped up by 3:20 p.m.
