Splash­ing into the night

On Fri­day at the Tokay High swim­ming pool, the fi­nals for the Lodi Parks and Recre­ation City Cham­pi­onships fi­nals were held for ages 6 to in­com­ing high school se­niors. The four city teams com­pet­ing are the Seals, Dol­phins, Pi­ran­has and the Tri­tons com­peted.

The tri­als were held on Thurs­day. Ac­cord­ing to John Grif­fin, who over­sees the Lodi Swim Club and is the Lodi High boys swim­ming coach, the fi­nals were still be­ing held af­ter 10 p.m., and were ex­pected to be com­pleted af­ter 11 p.m. The meet started with the fi­nals of the med­ley re­lay teams, fol­lowed by the fi­nals of the in­di­vid­ual events and end­ing with the freestyle re­lay squads.

Through­out the sum­mer, the Seals, Dol­phins, Pi­ran­has and the Tri­tons faced each other in dual swim meets prior to Thurs­day’s gather­ing at the Tokay pool. Some of the swim­mers have moved on to swim com­pet­i­tively for the Lodi Swim Club.
