NAMI holding Peer to Peer program

NAMI San Joaquin County, the local organizati­on of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, will sponsor its NAMI Peer to Peer Education Program beginning Monday in Stockton.

The course is designed for adults living with mental health challenges and provides an educationa­l setting focused on recovery that offers respect, understand­ing and encouragem­ent.

The 10-session course is held twice a week for 2 hours per session, and is taught by trained mentors living in recovery. The course is a great resource for informatio­n on mental health challenges, recovery, coping skills and relapse prevention.

The course is free and open to the public. It will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays and Fridays from Monday through Nov. 16 in Conference Room B at 1212 N. California St., Stockton.
