One dead, two hurt af­ter car plunges off moun­tain

MOUNT BALDY VIL­LAGE — Los An­ge­les County au­thor­i­ties found an 18-year-old man dead and two other peo­ple in­jured in a car that plunged more than 500 feet down a moun­tain­side dur­ing the week­end.

The San Gabriel Val­ley Tri­bune re­ports the vic­tims may have been undis­cov­ered for nearly a day af­ter plum­met­ing off Glen­dora Ridge Road near Mount Baldy in the An­ge­les Na­tional For­est.

Cal­i­for­nia High­way Pa­trol Of­fi­cer Peter Ni­chol­son says the crash was dis­cov­ered at 10 a.m. Sun­day.

But one of the vic­tims, an 18-year-old Los An­ge­les woman, was last heard from at 11 a.m. Satur­day. She was hos­pi­tal­ized with a com­pound leg frac­ture.

The driver, an 18-year-old Mon­te­bello man, suf­fered ma­jor in­juries.
