It is with a great deal of sadness and heartache that we announce the passing of our beloved Elbert. He was a kind, gentle, humble man who had an amazing sense of humor and a gentle spirit of compassion towards all.

Elbert was born in Wendall, Idaho and moved with his family to Lodi when he was three. He attended local schools and when he began his work career, it was in the landscaping business because he absolutely loved being outdoors and “playing in the dirt” as he would jokingly say.

Elbert loved to take motorcycle rides with his wife throughout the Delta and stop at various places to grab a bite to eat. He Loved food and was sometimes referred to as the “give it to Mikey, he’ll eat it” guy as he seldom passed up the opportunity to chow down. He also enjoyed going to the Stockton Symphony with his wife and friends, and of course going out to eat afterwards.

Unfortunately, in 2015, Elbert was forced to retire and give up the motorcycle rides due to numerous health problems. In March, 2010, he had the blessing of receiving a liver transplant from UCSF due to liver cancer. Cancer returned in Feb. 2017 and he had to have neck surgery with radiation. Sadly, after a brief respite from cancer issues, in May 2018 he was diagnosed with Stage IV Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and though he fought a brave, fierce battle against it, he succumbed to his illness in the early afternoon of July 28, 2018.

He leaves behind the love of his life and devoted wife of 17 years, Valerie; his loving stepson Steven, his adoring granddaughter Jazmyn, his brothers Danny, Nolan, and Dale, his sister Betty and many nieces and nephews as well as numerous friends he made throughout the past 27 years in his association with Bill W. and Dr. Bob.

Elbert is preceded in death by his father Rheubaen, his mother Ernesteen and his brother Roy who was his hero and best buddy.

We wish to extend a special thank you to Stockton Bristol Hospice for their kind, compassionate care. And a special thank you to Dr. Thuong Truong who cared for Elbert for many years and did an amazing job doing so.

Please join us for Elbert’s Memorial/Celebration of Life & Luncheon on Sun, Aug 19, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at the Lodi Moose Lodge #634, 3824 E. Woodbridge Rd., Acampo, CA.
