Neva J Bauer, age 89, en­tered peace­fully into eter­nity Novem­ber 1, 2018. She was born De­cem­ber 13, 1928 in Twin Falls, Idaho to Ralph and Edith Teague. She earned her teach­ing cre­den­tial from Whit­worth Col­lege in Spokane, Wash­ing­ton in 1950, the same year she mar­ried her col­lege sweet­heart, Stan­ley Lee Bauer. She ac­cepted a high school teach­ing po­si­tion in mu­sic and drama upon grad­u­a­tion. Neva later joined her hus­band in Texas, who was sta­tioned at an Air Force Base for four years dur­ing the Korean War. Af­ter the ser­vice, Neva and fam­ily moved to Pendle­ton, Ore­gon for five years, then to Ar­cata, Cal­i­for­nia for 15 years. Dur­ing those years, Neva taught pi­ano les­sons while work­ing to­ward her mas­ter’s de­gree in mu­sic. Af­ter 20 years of teach­ing pi­ano les­sons, Neva and her hus­band changed ca­reer paths and moved to Santa Rosa to man­age a Chris­tian book store.

To bet­ter share their love of God and servi­tude, Neva and Stan opened Liv­ing Way Chris­tian book­store in 1981, serv­ing the com­mu­nity of Lodi for 17 years. Neva was a woman of strong faith be­liev­ing in the power and strength of Je­sus Christ’s love which she shared through men­tor­ing, prison min­istries, bible stud­ies and lead­ing prayer groups. She also served the com­mu­nity she loved as a com­mit­tee mem­ber for the Pa­rade of Lights and served on the Board of Di­rec­tors for the Lodi Cri­sis Preg­nancy Cen­ter.

She is pre­ceded in death by her hus­band of 42 years, Stan­ley and in­fant daugh­ter Bev­erly, chil­dren Rus­sell and Marci, grand­son Nathan and sib­lings Mar­jorie and Judy. She is sur­vived by her chil­dren Terri Phillips (Robert), Sherri Bauer, Judi Ger­rits, grand­chil­dren Der­ick, Lind­sey, Melissa, Ja­son, Tif­fany, Terry Jr., and Kristina, and seven great grand­chil­dren, and her sib­lings Nora and Ralph.

Fu­neral ar­range­ments are by Lodi Fu­neral Home. Pub­lic visi­ta­tion will be Wed­nes­day, Novem­ber 14 from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. and Thurs­day, Novem­ber 15 from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Lodi Fu­neral Home, 7255 Fair­mont Ave. Lodi, Cal­i­for­nia. Burial will be Fri­day, Novem­ber 16, at 11:00 a.m. at Chero­kee Me­mo­rial Park, Hwy. 99 E Har­ney Lane, Lodi, Cal­i­for­nia. Friends and fam­ily are in­vited to Cen­tury As­sem­bly Church, 550 W Cen­tury Blvd., Lodi, Cal­i­for­nia at 12:00 p.m. for a cel­e­bra­tion of Neva’s life and fel­low­ship.
