S.J. wa­ter con­ser­va­tion district to re­ceive grant

LODI — The U.S. Bureau of Recla­ma­tion on Thurs­day an­nounced that it will award $375,000 to five WaterSMART wa­ter ef­fi­ciency projects in Cen­tral Cal­i­for­nia, in­clud­ing the North San Joaquin Wa­ter Con­ser­va­tion District.

NSJWCD will re­ceive $75,000 for the South Sys­tem Mas­ter Con­trol Project, which will in­stall mas­ter con­trol equip­ment and soft­ware and a real-time wa­ter me­ter with re­mote mon­i­tor­ing ca­pa­bil­i­ties at the end of the South Sys­tem Pipe­line.

The project will al­low the district to bet­ter con­trol and mea­sure sur­face wa­ter use, in­crease sur­face wa­ter avail­abil­ity and de­crease re­liance on ground­wa­ter.
