For more than 40 years, the tower claimed the dis­tinc­tion of be­ing the world’s

tallest struc­ture. It was over­taken by the Chrysler Build­ing in 1930, but in 1957 the Eif­fel Tower passed its old New York City

ad­ver­sary after ra­dio masts were added, mak­ing it 1,063 feet tall.
