How to Plan a Family Trip

Lonely Planet Magazine (US) - - Globetrotter -

Involve your kids in the planning.

Not only does this help

get them engaged, it might open your eyes to something you weren’t previously considering.

Be prepared for long journeys.

Think snacks, entertainment, spare clothes and the right mindset (that’s you,

not the kids).

Don’t overschedule.

A good rule is to plan only

one activity each day. Time for café juice breaks,

playground stops, and midday hotel naps will keep meltdowns to a minimum.

Research, research,

research.

Remember: the internet is your friend when it comes to family travel; take advice from others; and have an

emergency plan.
