Eagles go with Vick
After repeatedly saying Kolb would get quarterback job back when he recovered from a concussion, team reverses course.
New Orleans Saints running back Reggie Bush has a broken right fibula, which is not expected to be season ending, though the injury could sideline him about six weeks.
The Saints had the day off after returning early in the morning from their 25-22 Monday night victory at San Francisco. Saints spokesman Greg Bensel said there were no planned updates on Bush’s injury.
The bone in Bush’s lower right leg was broken in a scrum after he dived for a muffed punt with 6:58 left.
Steelers’ Dixon to have surgery
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Dennis Dixon will have left knee surgery Wednesday and is out indefinitely, meaning Byron Leftwich or Charlie Batch will start Sunday at Tampa Bay.
Dixon was hurt in the first half of a 19-11 victory at Tennessee on Sunday, with Batch playing most of the final three quarters — his most extensive game action since 2007. Leftwich, expected to start during Ben
Roethlisberger’s four-game suspension, sat out the first two games with a sprained left knee injured in the final exhibition game.
Broncos mourn McKinley
Denver Broncos Coach
Josh McDaniels said in a tearful news conference that nobody in the organization saw any hint that wide receiver Kenny McKinley was suicidal before he took his life.
“We’ve all seen him recently. He’s been the same person every time we see him,” McDaniels said. McKinley’s body was discovered by a female friend Monday when she returned to his Centennial home less than four miles from the team’s headquarters after running an errand with his young son, Keon.
Arapahoe County Coroner Michael Dobersen said Tuesday that McKinley, 23, died of a gunshot wound to the head.
Jets’ Edwards is arrested
New York Jets wide receiver Braylon Edwards was arrested in Manhattan on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
Edwards was pulled over on the west side of Manhattan about 5:15 a.m. EDT because his vehicle had excessive tinting on its windows, authorities said.
Edwards was given a breath test at the scene and another at a police station. His blood alcohol level was .16, twice the legal limit, officials said.
