New Or­leans Saints run­ning back Reg­gie Bush has a bro­ken right fibula, which is not ex­pected to be sea­son end­ing, though the in­jury could side­line him about six weeks.

The Saints had the day off af­ter re­turn­ing early in the morn­ing from their 25-22 Mon­day night vic­tory at San Fran­cisco. Saints spokesman Greg Bensel said there were no planned up­dates on Bush’s in­jury.

The bone in Bush’s lower right leg was bro­ken in a scrum af­ter he dived for a muffed punt with 6:58 left.

Steel­ers’ Dixon to have surgery

Pitts­burgh Steel­ers quar­ter­back Den­nis Dixon will have left knee surgery Wed­nes­day and is out in­def­i­nitely, mean­ing By­ron Leftwich or Char­lie Batch will start Sun­day at Tampa Bay.

Bron­cos mourn McKin­ley

Josh McDaniels said in a tear­ful news con­fer­ence that no­body in the or­ga­ni­za­tion saw any hint that wide re­ceiver Kenny McKin­ley was sui­ci­dal be­fore he took his life.

“We’ve all seen him re­cently. He’s been the same per­son ev­ery time we see him,” McDaniels said. McKin­ley’s body was dis­cov­ered by a fe­male friend Mon­day when she re­turned to his Cen­ten­nial home less than four miles from the team’s head­quar­ters af­ter run­ning an er­rand with his young son, Keon.

Ara­pa­hoe County Coro­ner Michael Dobersen said Tues­day that McKin­ley, 23, died of a gun­shot wound to the head.

Jets’ Ed­wards is ar­rested

New York Jets wide re­ceiver Bray­lon Ed­wards was ar­rested in Man­hat­tan on sus­pi­cion of driv­ing while in­tox­i­cated.

Ed­wards was pulled over on the west side of Man­hat­tan about 5:15 a.m. EDT be­cause his ve­hi­cle had ex­ces­sive tint­ing on its win­dows, au­thor­i­ties said.

Ed­wards was given a breath test at the scene and an­other at a po­lice sta­tion. His blood al­co­hol level was .16, twice the le­gal limit, of­fi­cials said.
