Another touchdown for NBC
In the last week before the official start of the fall TV season, NBC once more rode high on pro football.
Sunday’s NFL Colts-Giants matchup — featuring a brother-versus-brother contest between quarterbacks Eli and Peyton Manning — scored 23.1 million viewers, making it the most-watched prime-time program for the week, according to figures released Tuesday by the Nielsen Co.
Wednesday’s season finale of “America’s Got Talent” also delivered for NBC, with 16.4 million viewers and the No. 3 slot.
A trickle of premieres also enlivened the week, including a special Wednesday broadcast of NBC’s new Jimmy Smits courtroom drama, “Outlaw” (10.7 million), before it settled into its regular Friday slot.
Overall, NBC won the week with an 8.9 million average, trailed by CBS, ABC and Fox.
