Charges filed in ice pick attack
A Yorba Linda woman who authorities said stabbed a former boyfriend with an ice pick after hiding in the back seat of his car has been charged with attempted murder and is expected to be arraigned Friday.
Elizabeth Cuevas Villanueva, 47, allegedly hid in the back seat of her former boyfriend’s Mercedes-Benz, which was parked at Messiah Lutheran Church in Yorba Linda. When the man returned to his car and started to leave, she allegedly attacked him from behind, stabbing him in the head and shoulders, prosecutors said.
The victim, who authorities did not identify, was able to escape after he unintentionally crashed into a tree while trying to bring the car to a stop, prosecutors said.
Villanueva, who is accused of fleeing the scene on foot, was pursued and held by witnesses until law enforcement officials arrived.
