26 computers stolen at school
Thieves took 20 laptop computers, half a dozen desktop computers, projectors and cellphones from the Watts Learning Center, one of the city’s highly regarded schools.
The break-in occurred after a parents’ meeting Sept. 15. The school’s staff noticed the burglary when they arrived the next morning.
The thieves apparently broke a thick window over the door, getting around the building’s security measures.
The independently operated charter school serves a low-income, mostly African American population.
