Anthony deal stalls for Nets
The proposed megadeal that would send Carmelo Anthony from the Denver Nuggets to the New Jersey Nets hit a snag Sunday.
The Nuggets apparently have reservations about the trade, in which they would acquire rookie forward Derrick Favors of the Nets, forward Andrei Kirilenko of the Utah Jazz and two first-round draft picks in return for Anthony. The Nets would also send point guard Devin Harris to the Charlotte Bobcats, who would send forward Boris Diaw to Utah.
Although NBA tampering rules prevent him from talking directly about Anthony, Nets General Manager Billy King acknowledged that he has been working on a trade.
“I would say that we’re exploring everything,” King said. “But there’s no deal. We have nothing. We have nothing. We’re excited about the guys playing. I’ll continue to explore and see if we can make the team better. At this point I’m excited about watching our guys practice.”
