For­mer Pres­i­dent Carter re­mains in hos­pi­tal

For­mer Pres­i­dent Carter is in “good spir­its” a day af­ter be­ing rushed to a hos­pi­tal with an up­set stom­ach but will re­main un­der ob­ser­va­tion a sec­ond night.

Carter “looks for­ward to get­ting back to his busy sched­ule,” MetroHealth Med­i­cal Cen­ter in Cleve­land said in a state­ment with the Carter Cen­ter. Ear­lier the hos­pi­tal said Carter was “feel­ing nor­mal.”

Carter, who turns 86 Fri­day, de­vel­oped an up­set stom­ach dur­ing a flight to Cleve­land, where he was sched­uled to at­tend a sign­ing for his new book, “White House Diary.”
