It’s not sur­pris­ing that Jeb Bush is cir­cum­vent­ing cam­paign fundrais­ing rules to max­i­mize his cof­fers. What is sur­pris­ing, how­ever, is that he hasn’t taken ad­van­tage of his least ex­pen­sive and likely most ef­fec­tive op­tion for boost­ing his chances at win­ning the White House.

For a few hun­dred dol­lars, Bush can legally change his last name. The process takes sev­eral months, but he prob­a­bly knows peo­ple who could ex­pe­dite it.
