ON THE MOUND: Brett An­der­son earned his first win with the Dodgers, lim­it­ing the Mariners to two runs (one earned) and six hits over five innings. The only earned run charged to An­der­son came on a fourth-in­ning solo home run by Nel­son Cruz. The home run re­duced the Dodgers’ ad­van­tage to 5-1. AT THE PLATE: Adrian Gon­za­lez was two for five with a dou­ble and a run bat­ted in. His 19 hits are the most by any player in fran­chise his­tory through the first nine games of a sea­son. Scott Van Slyke dou­bled in two runs in the first in­ning. An­dre Ethier and Joc Ped­er­son each drove in a run. Mariners start­ing pitcher Tai­juan Walker lasted four innings. Walker was charged with five runs, six hits and four walks.

MED­I­CAL RE­PORT: Yasiel Puig missed his sec­ond con­sec­u­tive game be­cause of a strained left ham­string. Manager Don Mat­tingly said he ex­pects Puig to re­turn to the lineup when the Dodgers re­sume play on Fri­day. How­ever, be­fore the game against the Mariners on Tues­day, Mat­tingly said Puig might be avail­able to pinch-hit. Af­ter the game, he ad­mit­ted that was un­true. … Carl Craw­ford was out of the lineup be­cause of a stiff an­kle, but pinch-hit in the sev­enth.

ROS­TER MOVES: Left-han­der David Huff, who started for the Dodgers on Tues­day, was des­ig­nated for as­sign­ment and re­moved from the 40-man ros­ter. Huff can re­main with the Dodgers if he clears waivers and agrees to a mi­nor league as­sign­ment. Huff was re­placed on the ac­tive ros­ter by right-han­der Car­los Frias, pro­moted from triple-A Ok­la­homa City. The Dodgers used the newly cre­ated spot on the their 40-man ros­ter on Ryan Den­nick, claimed off waivers from Cincin­nati. Den­nick, 28, pitched in the ma­jor leagues for the first time last sea­son, ap­pear­ing in eight games for the Reds. He was op­tioned by the Dodgers to dou­ble-A Tulsa.
