When the Uni­ver­sity of Michi­gan at Ann Arbor de­cided to ex­pand its busi­ness school build­ing, a gor­geous 250-year-old Bur oak with a 44-foot-di­am­e­ter root ball was stand­ing in the way. In­stead of chop­ping down the tree, the school moved the big fel­low 500 feet—at a cost of $400,000.
