L.A.’s new Wage En­force­ment Di­vi­sion will have the power to file cases and levy big fines against em­ploy­ers sus­pected of en­gag­ing in non­pay­ment of re­quired wages. The agency will also have the power to pe­nal­ize busi­nesses for var­i­ous ad­min­is­tra­tive vi­o­la­tions, in­clud­ing: Fail­ure to post in­for­ma­tion on the city’s min­i­mum wage in 12 lan­guages Fail­ure to pro­vide ac­cess to pay­roll records Fail­ure to re­tain pay­roll records for four years Re­tal­i­a­tion against em­ploy­ees who file com­plaints Fail­ure to al­low in­ves­ti­ga­tors to in­ter­view em­ploy­ees
