Los Angeles Times - - THE STATE - — Matt Hamilton

Six people were injured Wednesday night when a bus collided with a pickup and struck a light pole in Lakewood.

The Long Beach Transit bus was en route to downtown Long Beach from Bellflower when the accident happened about 6:10 p.m., city transit spokesman Kevin Lee said.

All four passengers on board were taken to the hospital with injuries, Lee said.

The driver of the bus was trapped in the wreckage for nearly two hours before Los Angeles County firefighters were able to rescue him, Lee said. The driver, whose name was not released, was also taken to a hospital.

The driver of the pickup was also injured, but emergency personnel treated him at the scene, fire dispatcher Miguel Ornelas said.

The cause of the collision is under investigation.
