Ru­pert Mur­doch’s sons will soon have new roles at 21st Cen­tury Fox. James Mur­doch will be chief ex­ec­u­tive, and Lach­lan will be ex­ec­u­tive co-chair­man.

In­com­ing CEO, 21st Cen­tury Fox

James, 42, was named Fox's co-chief op­er­at­ing of­fi­cer last year af­ter serv­ing as a deputy. He had ear­lier been pil­lo­ried by mem­bers of the Bri­tish Par­lia­ment and oth­ers for fail­ing to man­age News Corp.’s mush­room­ing phone-hack­ing de­ba­cle in Bri­tain, but an­a­lysts say he re­ha­bil­i­tated his im­age.

Lach­lan Mur­doch

Non-ex­ec­u­tive co-chair­man, 21st Cen­tury Fox and News Corp.

Lach­lan, 43, re­joined News Corp and 21st Cen­tury Fox last year as non-ex­ec­u­tive co-chair­man and is ex­pected to be el­e­vated to ex­ec­u­tive co-chair­man. He left the com­pany a decade ago af­ter feel­ing the sting of in­ter­nal com­pany pol­i­tics and headed a TV ven­ture in Australia.

Elis­a­beth Mur­doch

For­mer chair­man and CEO, Shine Limited

Elis­a­beth, 46, has not been in­volved in Fox com­pany op­er­a­tions since last fall, when she stepped down from over­see­ing the tele­vi­sion pro­duc­tion com­pany Shine, which she founded and sold to News Corp. in 2011 for $675 mil­lion. Ear­lier in her ca­reer, she owned TV sta­tions in Cal­i­for­nia.
