Distronic Plus: Uses radar to scan the road ahead and begins to brake before a collision. Can bring the car to a complete stop without the driver’s assistance.

Adaptive Cruise Control: Allows the driver to choose a speed for cruise control, like most cars, but will maintain a safe distance from other vehicles — slowing down or speeding up on its own at freeway speeds. Blind Spot Assist and Active Lane Keeping Assist: With the aid of side-mounted cameras, warns a driver who’s about to change lanes into another vehicle; vibrates the steering wheel if the driver veers across the white or yellow lines.

PreSafe: Anticipates a collision, and automatically tightens seat belts, adjusts head rests and seats, and closes windows.

Parking Assist: Cameras in the bumpers tell the car whether the parallel parking space is big enough. If it is, the driver need only put the S-Class into reverse, engage the auto-park function and release the brakes.
