Mets’ Gee is des­ig­nated

Right-han­der Dil­lon Gee has been des­ig­nated for as­sign­ment by the New York Mets af­ter be­ing re­placed in the ro­ta­tion by Noah Syn­der­gaard dur­ing an in­jury-in­ter­rupted sea­son.

The move came Mon­day, a day af­ter Gee gave up eight runs and 11 hits in 32⁄ in­nings against At­lanta.

Gen­eral Man­ager Sandy Alder­son said the Mets will try to trade Gee or push him through waivers.

Gee, 29, is be­ing paid $5.3 mil­lion this year. He has a 5.90 earned-run av­er­age. In six big league sea­sons, Gee is 40-37 with a 4.03 ERA. Etc.
