Boko Haram bomb cache kills 63
A large sack of homemade bombs at an abandoned Boko Haram camp in Nigeria exploded, killing 63 people, witnesses said.
The explosives were found by civilian self-defense fighters who carried the bag to the nearby town of Monguno.
A curious crowd had gathered to inspect the bag when it exploded, said Haruna Bukar, a witness.
Many wounded people were being treated in a hospital, he said.
Boko Haram seized a large part of the northeast until a multinational force this year drove the group from towns and villages. The military says the extremists are now mostly confined to the Sambisa Forest.
