Questions about gun safety

Re “‘Smart’ guns under fire,” June 15

First, a photo with the article shows the chief executive of “smart” gun maker Armatix USA Inc. holding a firearm with her finger on the trigger. This violates a foremost gun safety rule: Keep your finger away from the trigger until you are ready to fire.

Second, whereas the majority of handguns are kept for home defense purposes, one must consider: When seconds matter, who wants to have to reach for and deactivate a safety device before reaching for the gun?

This article is further proof that “gun rights activists” opposed to safety technology live in a fantasy world where old-fashioned shooting irons are connected to their precious bodily fluids, and no responsibility attached to gun ownership can be tolerated.
