Putin says he wants to help

De­spite the show­down with the West over Ukraine, Moscow wants to co­op­er­ate with Washington and its al­lies on Is­lamic State and other chal­lenges, Pres­i­dent Vladimir Putin said as he tried to al­lay in­vestors’ fear about Rus­sia’s course.

Putin ac­cused the U.S. of ig­nor­ing Rus­sia’s in­ter­ests and try­ing to force its will on oth­ers, but he also sent con­cil­ia­tory sig­nals, say­ing that Moscow wants a quick set­tle­ment to the Ira­nian nu­clear stand­off and a peace­ful po­lit­i­cal tran­si­tion in Syria.

Speak­ing at ama­jor eco­nomic fo­rum, Putin also said Rus­sia wants the Ukraine peace agree­ment to suc­ceed.
