WWII camp to get barrack back

Los Angeles Times - - THE NATION -

One of the original 450 barracks at the Heart Mountain Relocation Center will be returned to the former World War II internment camp this summer.

The historic barrack was discovered near Shell, where it had been moved and was used by Iowa State University at its geology field studies station, said Brian Liesinger, executive director of the Heart Mountain Inter- pretive Center.

The center is a National Historic Landmark, but no barracks remain on the site. During the war, more than 11,000 Japanese Americans from the West Coast were held there.
