Fed­erer wins ti­tle in Ger­many

Roger Fed­erer de­feated Italy’s An­dreas Seppi, 7- 6 ( 1), 6- 4, on Sun­day to claim a record eighth Gerry We­ber Open ti­tle in his 10th fi­nal at the event in Halle, Ger­many.

The 17- time Grand Slam cham­pion won his 15th ti­tle in 20 fi­nals on grass and his 86th ca­reer ti­tle in 130 fi­nals over­all.

Seppi was in the f inal af­ter Kei Nishikori with­drew from their semi­fi­nal with a calf in­jury — and Gael Mon­fils pulled out of the quar­ter­fi­nal with a knee prob­lem — but the Ital­ian showed no ap­par­ent lack of match fit­ness.

Andy Mur­ray claimed his 34th ca­reer ti­tle with a 6- 3, 6- 4 vic­tory over un­seeded South African Kevin An­der­son in the f inal of the grass- court Queen’s Club tour­na­ment in Lon­don.

Ear­lier Sun­day, Mur­ray com­pleted a 6- 3, 7- 6 ( 4) semi­fi­nal win over Ser­bia’s Vik­tor Troicki af­ter rain stopped play Satur­day.

An­gelique Ker­ber beat sixth- seeded Karolina Pliskova, 6- 7 ( 5), 6- 3, 7- 6 ( 4), in Birm­ing­ham, Eng­land, in the fi­nal of the Ae­gon Clas­sic to clinch her first grass- court ti­tle.
