Suspect held in stabbing of 3

- — Associated Press

Three Sacramento musicians were seriously injured after being stabbed in an alleged homophobic attack in midtown, the center of the city’s art and music scene.

Slaves guitarist Alex Lyman suffered a 4-inch stab on his side, lead singer Balke Abbey was stabbed in the arm and required surgery; and Weston Richmond, another guitarist, had minor cuts and broke his hand in the attack.

In social media posts, the musicians said their attacker referred to them with homophobic slurs because they had on skinny jeans.

Timothy Brownell was booked on charges of assault with a deadly weapon. He was released on bail on Monday. Despite the musicians’ statements, police say they are not investigating the incident as a hate crime.
