Ohio law­mak­ers put off ac­tion on a res­o­lu­tion urg­ing base­ball’s com­mis­sioner to re­in­state all- time hits leader Pete Rose and make the for­mer Cincinnati Reds star el­i­gi­ble for the Hall of Fame. The mea­sure was pulled from a leg­isla­tive com­mit­tee’s agenda a day af­ter ESPN re­ported it ob­tained ev­i­dence Rose bet on Reds games in 1986, his last sea­son as a player. Etc.

At­lanta put f irst base­man Fred­die Free­man on the 15- day dis­abled list be­cause of a bruised right wrist. . . . Texas ac­ti­vated third base­man Adrian Bel­tre, who missed 19 games be­cause of a sprained left thumb. . . .
