SAN JOSE 3, GALAXY 1

STANFORD — Chris Wondolowski notched his ninth goal of the season and the San Jose Earthquakes scored twice in the second half to beat the Galaxy, 3-1, on Saturday night at Stanford Stadium in the California Clasico.

The loss ended a three-game unbeaten streak for the Galaxy, which was coming off blowout wins over Portland and Philadelphia, 5-0 and 5-1, respectively.

Matias Perez Garcia had two assists for the Quakes (7-5-4), the first on a well-placed cross that Wondolowski smashed into the net in the 28th minute for a 1-1 tie. Wondolowski is second the MLS goal race, three behind Columbus’ Kei Kamara.

Clarence Goodson gave San Jose the lead in the 53rd minute, and Cordell Cato capped the scoring for the Earthquakes in the 72nd.

The Galaxy (7-6-7) took the lead in the 17th minute on Juninho’s 30-yard rocket from straightaway.
