San Jose pulls away to beat Gal­axy

STAN­FORD — Chris Won­dolowski notched his ninth goal of the sea­son and the San Jose Earth­quakes scored twice in the sec­ond half to beat the Gal­axy, 3-1, on Satur­day night at Stan­ford Sta­dium in the Cal­i­for­nia Cla­sico.

The loss ended a three-game un­beaten streak for the Gal­axy, which was com­ing off blowout wins over Port­land and Philadelphia, 5-0 and 5-1, re­spec­tively.

Ma­tias Perez Gar­cia had two as­sists for the Quakes (7-5-4), the first on a well-placed cross that Won­dolowski smashed into the net in the 28th minute for a 1-1 tie. Won­dolowski is sec­ond the MLS goal race, three be­hind Colum­bus’ Kei Ka­mara.

Clarence Good­son gave San Jose the lead in the 53rd minute, and Cordell Cato capped the scor­ing for the Earth­quakes in the 72nd.

The Gal­axy (7-6-7) took the lead in the 17th minute on Jun­inho’s 30-yard rocket from straight­away.
