Basement Jaxx The combination of the electronic duo Basement Jaxx, PFunk bass legend Bootsy Collins and the L.A. R&B supergoup Tuxedo will make for an exceedingly funky and danceable night at the Bowl. Each act represents various eras and traditions — ’70s funk, ’ 90s rave, retromodern R&B — but together, they’ll all be after a similar groove. They’ll play as part of KCRW’s World Festival. Hollywood Bowl, 2301 N. Highland Ave., L.A. 7 p.m. Sun. $15-$130. hollywood

SWV/Blackstreet ’90s R&B has been having a revival for some time, and it’s good to see that some of its finest practicioners are getting in on the attention. This show, presented by 94.7FM The Wave, will bring staples like SWV, Blackstreet, Ginuwine and Tony! Toni! Tone! together, and we defy you to not do the dance to “Pony” no matter who is watching. Greek Theatre, 2700 N. Vermont Ave., L.A. 7 p.m. Fri. $52.40-$145.10. greekthe

Television The NYC band was one of the north stars of early punk rock and post-punk, but they took a longerform and more instrumentally adept route to showcasing abstract feelings of alienation and longing. Tom Verlaine remains one of the genre’s most inimitable guitarists, and the band’s gig at the new Tergram Ballroom near downtown L.A. is one of the venue’s most-lauded early scores. Teragram Ballroom, 1234 W. 7th St., L.A. 8 p.m. Fri. $35. teragramball
