Sui­cide at­tack­ers strike the cap­i­tal

Two sui­cide bomb­ings rocked Chad’s cap­i­tal, N’Dja­mena, leav­ing at least 11 peo­ple dead weeks af­ter sui­cide bomb­ings killed dozens, an of­fi­cial said.

Five po­lice of­fi­cers were among the dead, said Public Se­cu­rity Min­is­ter Ab­der­ahim Bireme Hamid.

The other six killed were ex­trem­ists, he said.

The f irst ex­plo­sion was heard in N’Dja­mena’s Dingues­sou neigh­bor­hood and the sec­ond came min­utes later, said res­i­dent Souley­mane Brahim.

There was no im­me­di­ate claim of re­spon­si­bil­ity for the at­tack, but sus­pi­cion fell on Boko Haram, the Is­lamist mil­i­tant group based in neigh­bor­ing Nige­ria.
