Trout stars in win but there’s a re­port of ten­sion be­tween Scios­cia, Dipoto.

KEY MO­MENT: Rookie re­liever Trevor Gott, sum­moned to pro­tect a 3- 1 lead in the sev­enth, walked Brian McCann and gave up an in­field sin­gle to Didi Gre­go­rius to open the in­ning. But the right- han­der got hot- hit­ting Brett Gard­ner to fly to left, Chris Young to ground into a fielder’s choice and Alex Ro­driguez to ground to short­stop, end­ing the in­ning.

AT THE PLATE: Johnny Gi­avotella sin­gled to open the first and scored on Al­bert Pu­jols’ dou­ble to right. Mike Trout’s homer gave the An­gels a 2- 1 lead in the third. Daniel Robert­son sin­gled and scored on Kole Cal­houn’s dou­ble to right for a 3- 1 lead in the fifth. C. J. Cron, re­called from triple- A Salt Lake ear­lier Mon­day, led off the sev­enth with his sec­ond homer of the sea­son to make it 4- 1. Gard­ner had two dou­bles and a sin­gle and is hit­ting .500 ( 25 for 50) with four homers, seven dou­bles and 11 runs bat­ted in over his last 11 games.

ON THE MOUND: Joe Smith’s score­less eighth gave him an Amer­i­can League- lead­ing 21 holds, and Hus­ton Street’s score­less ninth gave him 22 saves for the sea­son and 297 saves in his ca­reer. Yan­kees left- han­der CC Sa­bathia gave up four runs and six hits in 71⁄3 in­nings.

IN THE FIELD: Trout raced to the wall and made a leap­ing catch of Young’s drive in the third. He robbed Young again in the fifth with a lung­ing catch on the warn­ing track af­ter a long run, and he raced to the gap in right- cen­ter to catch Chase Headley’s drive in the sixth.

ALL- STAR UP­DATE: Trout led Amer­i­can League out­field­ers with nearly 11.5 mil­lion votes in Mon­day’s fi­nal All- Star bal­lot­ing up­date, putting him on track to start the July 14 game in Cincinnati. Pu­jols re­mained fifth among AL first base­men with about 1.9 mil­lion votes de­spite lead­ing the league with 23 homers. His All- Star hopes will rest with man­agers, coaches and play­ers, who pick re­serves at each po­si­tion; AL Man­ager Ned Yost; or pos­si­bly the fi­nal one fan vote. Starters for the game will be an­nounced Sun­day, and re­serves will be an­nounced Mon­day.

RE­HAB RE­PORT: Re­liever Mike Morin, out since May 24 be­cause of a left rib- cage strain, re­turned from a three- ap­pear­ance stint at triple A on Mon­day and hopes to be ac­ti­vated Tues­day or Wed­nes­day. … Re­serve out­fielder Collin Cowgill, out since May 26 be­cause of a right wrist sprain, re­sumed bat­ting prac­tice Mon­day but is not sure when he’ll be ready to be­gin a mi­nor league re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion stint. … Jered Weaver ( left- hip in­flam­ma­tion) threw a 20- pitch bullpen ses­sion Mon­day.
