Parker and Sims lead the Sparks

Can­dace Parker scored 24 points, and Odyssey Sims added 20 to help the Sparks cruise by the New York Lib­erty 87-74 on Fri­day night at Sta­ples Cen­ter.

It was tied at 44 at half­time but New York was held to 11 points in the third quar­ter and didn’t score in the fourth un­til Rebecca Allen’s jumper at the 7:35 mark.

Los An­ge­les made four of its six three-point­ers in the third quar­ter and scored 25 points.

Parker had eight points in the de­ci­sive quar­ter and Nneka Og­wu­mike added seven.

Og­wu­mike fin­ished with 17 points for the Sparks (18-6), who had only six turnovers com­pared with New York’s 13.

Bria Hart­ley scored 16 points for New York (12-12) and Tina Charles added 10 in just 23 min­utes.

The Lib­erty ended a fiveg­ame road trip at 2-3 and play at home on Tues­day for the first time since July 19.
