Parker and Sims lead the Sparks
Candace Parker scored 24 points, and Odyssey Sims added 20 to help the Sparks cruise by the New York Liberty 87-74 on Friday night at Staples Center.
It was tied at 44 at halftime but New York was held to 11 points in the third quarter and didn’t score in the fourth until Rebecca Allen’s jumper at the 7:35 mark.
Los Angeles made four of its six three-pointers in the third quarter and scored 25 points.
Parker had eight points in the decisive quarter and Nneka Ogwumike added seven.
Ogwumike finished with 17 points for the Sparks (18-6), who had only six turnovers compared with New York’s 13.
Bria Hartley scored 16 points for New York (12-12) and Tina Charles added 10 in just 23 minutes.
The Liberty ended a fivegame road trip at 2-3 and play at home on Tuesday for the first time since July 19.
