Cubs catcher is sus­pended

Chicago Cubs catcher Will­son Con­tr­eras was sus­pended for two games and fined an undis­closed amount, and pitcher John Lackey was fined an undis­closed amount, MLB an­nounced Satur­day.

Con­tr­eras ap­pealed the sus­pen­sion and played against St. Louis on Satur­day.

He and Lackey were ejected from the Cubs’ game against St. Louis on Fri­day for ar­gu­ing with plate um­pire Jor­dan Baker.

At­lanta out­fielder Matt Kemp might not play again this year be­cause of a sore left ham­string . ... The New York Yan­kees have scored 150 runs against Baltimore this sea­son, the most by any team ver­sus an op­po­nent since 1961.
