Walk the Lakefront. Chicagoans endure the frigid winters just so they can enjoy the fabulous lake in summer. Ditch the Viviers, slap on a hat and sunblock, and cab to the cnr of W Armitage and N Clark / Lincoln Park. Walk into the park and you’ll soon come to N Stockton. Bear right, then left at N Ridge, which goes over South Pond. Stop on the mini bridge and admire the view downtown. Once you’ve crossed the pond, follow the road right (going left will take you to the zoo) until you come to N Cannon, and continue until you reach the overpass, cross, then head right, toward the city for more downtown views. Follow the Lakefront Trail to Oak St Beach and take the underpass, which leads you to for a cuppa cha, you star (see Coffee/palm Court). Cycle the Lakefront. Get your leg over and shed some pizza gut on a glorious, easy stretch of Lake Michigan. Bike and Roll / four bike pick-up locations from Foster Beach to Millennium Park / 312 729 1000 / guided tours available / bike chicago.com / also try Divvy Bikes (see V. Useful)
