A Family Ski Getaway to The Krallerhof

The Krallerhof is nestled within a picturesque valley beneath a majestic mountain range... It was love at first sight!

The sun was just a faint glimmer on the dawn’s horizon as it was coming over the Leogang Mountains. “Put your hands on your knees and do a pizza,” I said to Tristan who was gliding down the carpet of snow, and into my arms. “Brilliant,” I cheered. He looked up and beamed proudly; his first ski run – conquered! True, it was only the children’s hill outside of the hotel, and he was only two-years-old, but it was a monumental ride for both of us.

My sons, Tristan (8) and Conrad (4), began skiing when each of them was two years old – residing in Switzerland it is an unwritten prerequisite. In fact, I have witnessed some children skiing even earlier. Considering how quickly they learn at a young age, the Swiss deem it only logical that parents introduce their children to this winter pastime as soon as walking begins; plus, it is a fantastic winter activity to enjoy together.

Family skiing is an opportunity to enjoy a sport that is also good for your health – combined with the added benefit of sharing this experience with those dearest to your heart – it is a winning trifecta, indeed. There are few other family holidays that offer the perfect blend of fun and fitness, not to mention, skiing allows for the children to appreciate the great outdoors. However, the most important aspect is that the experience creates lifetime memories, which is the overall purpose of these family adventures.
